I would go to war with everyone if more than harm
could come. I could plead at the feet of a lesser deity
for retaining joy as red clay might a small jawbone.
Deeply hominid, quaint and obliging: still awe—
fully of love and smarmy delights to offer.
All fully in love, I could leave forever,
wasted as the praying that delays sleep.
Naked sweat: beyond the tripwire are pariahs
twisting in mania about renditions of Golgotha
prodding any slaughtered icon to resurrect.
More than harm, it’s curious to remember
how to plead at the feet of someone to forgive
what is mine to loathe or scrutinize.
To satiate the curious, I have wiped off any evidence.
Cool me down. And if you decide to get your hands dirty,
plant me in shade under where the heavy pariahs hanged.
