Adam's Bones

What came first  

Adam’s rib or Eve’s womb? 

If they were not lovers

but mother and son 

and he slithered from 

between her legs

coiled at her breast

not a snake to mark her

but something she grew

then when he was old enough 

to understand

he offered as thanks

his bones.
